Service Description

The Gingerbread House Design & Construction Workshop is a four-session, project-based culinary and engineering course designed for students ages 12–18. Participants will learn the science of structural baking, edible construction techniques, design planning, and artistic decorating while creating a competition-ready gingerbread house. Although students do not need to enter the house into a competition, this course prepares students to participate in the LeRoy Collins Main Library Annual Gingerbread House Competition on December 5. Throughout the program, students will design, bake, and assemble a structurally sound gingerbread creation while developing planning, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Students will complete the structural components during class and finish decorating independently before transporting their completed project to the library competition.
